Pre-School and Early Stage 1

Early_years_banner_500w

At Centennial Parklands, we have developed a specific program for early years providers and Kindergartens. Our education rangers have been specifically trained in delivering nature education and have extensive experience working with Early Years groups.

Our programs are specifically designed to link to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF): Belonging, Being and Becoming, and the national curriculum where appropriate.

Interactive activities, games, storytelling and nature play encourage the children to learn through play, and at their own pace and interest. Children can explore, experience, experiment and communicate their discoveries to each other and their supporting adults.

Our programs last between 1 ½ - 2 ½ hours. Each program consists of an introduction, and a series of hands on and reflective activities. This is to ensure that the children learn and retain the information from their excursion, and that their visit is a memorable one.

Teachers can choose from the following three sessions:

Sensory Explorers

Science

This Science excursion aims to provide Early Stage 1 students with an opportunity to explore the natural world through play based, scientific and sensory activities. This program is fun, imaginative and playful. Read the subject page (pdf).

Centennial Park; A Special Place

Geography

This Geography excursion aims to give students an opportunity to visit and explore one of Sydney’s most loved green spaces. Children will gain an understanding of its history and wildlife through a variety of hands on activities, games, exploration activities and stories. Read the subject page (pdf).
